Dr. David Eccles, professor of Sport Psychology, was featured on an episode of BBC World Service's CrowdScience series. Eccles lends his expertise to discuss the concept of orienteering and help show host Marnie learn more about navigating using basic instruments like a map and compass. Eccles was also cited in a book alongside retired faculty member Gershon Tenenbaum. The book, titled The Best: How Elite Athletes are Made, was written by Mark Williams and Tim Wigmore.

Dr. Lara Perez-Felkner, associate professor of Higher Education, and Higher Education doctoral students Aaron Reyna and Riccardo Purita presented at the Sociology of Education Association annual conference, which took place online. Their talk was titled "Trying to Get By: A Qualitative Examination of Student Experiences after Applying to a Rent-Free College Housing Intervention." The conference took place online due to the pandemic. The theme this year was "When Inequality Comes to School."

Dr. Deborah Ebener, professor and Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, and Maritza Miller, Counseling Psychology and School Psychology doctoral candidate, were interviewed for a piece that appeared on WTXL ABC 27. The piece looked at the way that the Human Services Center has expanded its services due to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide mental health services to individuals living in Florida. College of Education Dean Damon Andrew was inducted into the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) Hall of Fame. He was named a Distinguished Administrator during a virtual ceremony. COSMA specializes in accrediting, promoting and recognizing sport management programs. Of the three doctoral programs that COSMA has accredited, Andrew has played an administrative role at each institution.

Dr. Valerie Shute, Mack and Effie Campbell Tyner Endowed Professor of Education in the Educational Psychology and Learning Systems department, and a team of researchers comprised of alumni and students published an article in the journal Computers & Education titled "The use and effects of incentive systems on learning and performance in educational games." Seyedahmad Rahimi (pictured right; Measurement and Statistics M.S. '19, Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies Ph.D. '21) served as first author on the paper. Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies doctoral students Chih-Pu Dai, Xiaotong Yang, and Ginny Smith also worked on the paper, which explored educational games.

Dr. Megan Buning, teaching specialist in the Interdisciplinary Center for Athletic Coaching (FSU COACH), served as the methodologist for a new publication titled "Lessons Learned: Aligning Voices from the Inside with Nine Essentials of Professional Development Schools." The article compares and contrasts "experiences shared by teacher candidates and cooperating teachers" in two Professional Development Schools (PDS).

The article was written with research conducted by undergraduate student Oksana Rubis as part of her WIMSE research experience.

Dr. Timothy Baghurst, professor of education and Director of FSU COACH: Interdisciplinary Center for Athletic Coaching, published a new article in the International Journal of Sports Science & Coaching titled "Current perceptions of strength and conditioning coaches use of sled tow training." The study evaluated the way that coaches think about and consider sled tow training and surveyed 125 coaches.
