Teaching Awards

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is seeking nominations from students and faculty for the 2024 CEHHS Teaching Awards to recognize excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and adjunct levels. This award is distinct from the University Teaching Award and its criteria.

Criteria

The criteria for the awards are:

  • Facilitates and inspires students’ learning 
  • Shows evidence of continued improvement of teaching  
  • Provides evidence of unique approaches that set the nominee apart as a teacher 
  • Demonstrates integration of their scholarly/professional contributions into their class (for graduate and undergraduate awards) 
  • Demonstrates integration of current scholarly/professional research into their class (for adjunct award) 
  • Fosters critical thinking, practical applications, and/or students’ independent inquiry 
  • Uses pedagogical approaches that are innovative and engaging 
  • Shows enthusiasm and vitality in learning and teaching 
  • Appropriately uses technology in the classroom to foster active student engagement 

Timeline

  • Nominations open – February 16 –  23, 2024
  • Award recipients announced – April 2024 at End of Year Celebration

Nominees who meet the eligibility criteria (taught at least one CEHHS course in 2023 and have not received this award during the previous two years) will be notified by the selection committee chair and be asked to submit statements and course syllabi. We ask that any nomination statement be specific with examples that focus on the last year of teaching (2023), such as particularly innovative lessons, engagement of critical thinking, etc.
