Timothy Kellison is Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Management at Florida State University. His research is primarily focused on sport in the urban environment, with emphases on sport ecology, urban and regional planning, public policy, and politics. He has published research on sport and environmental sustainability in sport management’s leading academic journals, including the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, and European Sport Management Quarterly; written multiple book chapters; and presented research on sport ecology in North America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Additionally, he has edited or coedited several volumes on the subject, including his most recent project, Sport Stadiums and Environmental Justice. Kellison has received multiple recognitions for his work, including being designated a North American Society for Sport Management Research Fellow and being named a Fulbright Specialist in Urban Planning.

In 2018, Kellison was part of an eight-member working team for the Sports for Climate Action Framework, an initiative launched by United Nations under its UN Climate Change Secretariat. The framework, which Kellison coauthored, launched in December 2018 and is designed to help catalyze climate action by developing an action plan for recognizing sports federations and organizations engaged in efforts to combat climate change. He has also worked on several industry-based advisory boards, including the Super Bowl Sustainability Advisory Committee, which was formed to guide a positive and lasting environmental and social legacy from the events that the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee hosted in conjunction with the National Football League in 2019.

Kellison earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. A two-time graduate of the Florida State University Sport Management program (M.S., 2009; Ph.D., 2013), he returned to FSU after a decade on the faculties of Georgia State University and the University of Florida.
