Dr. Joe O’Shea serves as Associate Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Florida State University, where he helps lead the university’s award-winning student success initiatives. Dr. O'Shea also serves as a faculty member in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, as co-editor of the Journal of Postsecondary Student Success, and as co-director of the Collaborative Lab for the Advancement of Student Success (CLASS). A Truman and Rhodes Scholar, he has a master’s degree in comparative social policy and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Oxford. Dr. O'Shea is the author of the book Gap Year: How Delaying College Changes People in Ways the World Needs, published by Johns Hopkins University Press, and Doing College Right: A Guide to Student Success, published by Columbia University’s Teachers College Press.
