Dr. Chantelle Grace is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Social Science Education in the School of Teacher Education.  She began working at Florida State University in Fall 2022 and currently serves as Program Leader for the Social Science Education program.  She teaches a range of courses within the College of Education and works with pre- and in-service teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  Prior to joining the faculty at Florida State University, Dr. Grace was a full-time doctoral student and part-time graduate teaching assistant in the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. She previously worked in the classroom as a high school social studies teacher for six years.

Dr. Grace is an emerging scholar with a passion for social and racial justice.  Her research specifically focuses on race/ism and the ways in social studies educators can be better equipped with the essential racial, pedagogical, and content knowledge needed to engage in dialogue with students about racial issues.  From using​​​​ inquiry-based curricula centered around race to providing structured learning experiences that employ culturally responsive approaches, Dr. Grace’s work strives to model the many ways in which social studies educators can pursue meaningful conversations with students around the historical and contemporary effects of race/ism in our communities.  It is her hope that such conversations can ultimately contribute to a better, more racially just world.

Dr. Grace received her Ph.D. in Educational Theory and Practice with an emphasis in Social Studies Education from the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia in the summer of 2022.
