Student Spotlight: Giovanna Tang

This spring, we are celebrating some of our outstanding students who are graduating this semester. We wish all of our graduating students the best as they begin the next chapter of their journeys.

Giovanna Tang

Name: Giovanna Tang

Hometown: Hong Kong, China

Program: Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies (Ed.D.)

Why did you choose your program?

I chose the program in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies because I was working as an instructional designer and wanted to deepen my knowledge in the field to enhance my career. Additionally, I have always had a strong desire to pursue further studies and continue working in higher education.

What's your favorite part of your program?

My favorite aspect of this program is the synchronous online Zoom sessions with my instructors, cohort, and research group. I thoroughly enjoy exchanging knowledge with them, as they inspire me and provide valuable encouragement to pursue research opportunities together. Last April, I had the incredible opportunity to meet some of them in person at a conference, which further solidified our close bond.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

After graduating, I am considering pursuing a leadership position in the administrative track or applying for teaching positions in higher education. Specifically, I am interested in opportunities in North America, as I would like to gain overseas work experience and bring back my instructional design expertise to Asia thereafter.
