  • Research Consultation Service

University Libraries offers a research consultation service for students and faculty. These are usually scheduled appointments with a librarian to consult on some aspect of the research or publication process. Gloria Colvin is the education librarian and she collaborates with other librarians who have expertise in different areas.

Topics for research consultations may include:

    • Developing a search strategy
    • Finding sources for paper or projects
    • Beginning a literature review
    • Managing references and citations
    • Questions about APA style
    • Identifying experts on a topic
    • Locating and using data sources or datasets
    • Creating a data management plan
    • Identifying journals for publication
    • Developing a digital scholarship project
    • Questions about copyright
    • Determining impact of research
    • Making your research open access
    • Troubleshooting problems accessing library resources
    • Getting materials not available at FSU
    • Developing course assignments that require use of research materials

Ms. Colvin is available to meet with students and faculty in Stone Building or Strozier Library at times that are mutually convenient. She has office hours in the LRC most Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-5:00. Drop-ins are welcome, though appointments are recommended.
