North Florida Freedom Schools (NFFS) is a nonprofit co-sponsored by Florida State University and Florida A&M University. The program has been selected by the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) to operate two CDF Freedom School summer programs with the goal of providing children in the Tallahassee and Gadsden County communities opportunities to participate in quality summer enrichment programs.

NFFS also provides opportunities for FSU and FAMU College of Education students and recent grads to increase their skills in critical pedagogy and culturally relevant instruction, for families and community stakeholders to be engaged in civic action projects, as well as for researchers to assess the needs of the communities and develop culturally responsive curricula.
