Dr. Hanhan Xue is an Associate Professor of Sport Management at Florida State University. Her international background—born and raised in China, with educational and professional experience in Canada and the U.S.—provides her with multifaceted and deep knowledge of today’s complex cross-cultural sport business environment. Her primary research focuses on cross-cultural sport management, sport organizations in emerging markets (e.g., the Chinese market), and qualitative studies of cultural organizational phenomena within professional sports and emerging sports. Dr. Xue is also a leading researcher in the area of esports management, where her work focuses on the industry's economic and cultural structure as well as its effects on emerging esports teams and leagues.

Her research has appeared in ABDC listed journals, including A journals such as European Sport Management QuarterlyJournal of Sport ManagementSociology of Sport Journal, and Leisure Studies

Dr. Xue teaches across the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels in both face-to-face and online formats. Her teaching focuses on strategic management and sport governance. She currently teaches the doctoral seminars Strategic Management in Sport and Research Methods in Sport Management, and Master’s level courses including Strategic Management in Sport Organizations and Sport Governance. She is currently accepting doctoral student applications from those interested in working on/in international sport business, esports, and related areas within broader organizational theory and strategic management discipline frameworks.

Dr. Xue earned her Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation with a focus on sport management and organizations from University of Alberta, Canada.
