Simone May holds an Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems at the Florida State University College of Education. She earned a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia in 2010. She pursued graduate studies at Auburn University, earning a M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2014 and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2017. She is a nationally certified counselor and a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. Her clinical experience includes work with individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, and sexual assault; detained youth; and military couples and families.
May's research interests include minority and underrepresented populations with an emphasis on higher education preparation, success, recruitment, and retention. May is a Holmes Scholar and a former Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Leadership Fellow and has served as a reviewer on the CSI Chapter Grants and the Excellence in Research Grants committees.
