Alexis is from Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida, is married, and has two children. She received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University (FSU) in Criminology and Political Science in 2009, master’s in Criminal Justice from St. Leo University in 2011, and master’s in Social Work in 2017 also from FSU. Alexis is a Ph.D. student in the Counseling and School Psychology program at FSU, focusing her research on behavioral health navigation and integrated behavioral healthcare. She has spent the last 10 years working in the legislative arena for state governmental entities, specifically in mental health policy. She puts a strong emphasis on the importance of facilitating a relationship between policy and practice, with the ultimate goal of providing families with the tools they need to succeed.
