Amelia Parnell (Higher Education Ph.D. '10), published a book entitled, "You Are a Data Person: Strategies for Using Analytics on Campus." The book, which includes a foreward from Robert Schwartz, professor of higher education, provides resources for higher education professionals to use in order to become more comfortable in working with data. Parnell currently serves as the vice president for research and policy at NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.

Elizabeth Watts Bromery (English Education B.S. '90, Ph.D. '97), was named among the 50 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize - a $1 million award presented annually to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to their profession. Bromery is currently a teacher in Broward County Public Schools where she serves as a clinical educator, master teacher (AP research), English teacher (grades 10-12/dual enrollment English professor, Broward College @BCPS), and professional learning course designer and facilitator for equity and diversity. Texas Tech University Press selected Will Guzmán (social science education M.S. '99) as the inaugural editor for their Afro-Texans book series. Guzmán is a professor of history at Prairie View A&M University. 

Maxine Montgomery (English education B.S. '80), professor of English at Florida State, received one of only thirteen 2021 Collaborative Research Grants this year from the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Engaging Black Women’s Archives: Gloria Naylor and Twentieth-Century Literary History” is a three-year, multi-institutional project with Montgomery's colleagues at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The project culminates with a two-volume essay collection under advance contract with the University Press of Mississippi.
