Dorsey Spencer Jr. (Higher Education Ph.D.) received a “20 Under 40” Young Professional Award from the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals as part of the 2019 Golden A.C.E. event. A Golden A.C.E. recipient is an emerging young leader in their respective industry and also represents the award’s namesake – to highlight those in the community who believe in Authentic Community Engagement, or A.C.E. Spencer is currently the director of administration in the FSU Division of Student Affairs.

Paulina Arango (International and Multicultural Education Ph.D.) won a dissertation fellowship from the U.S. Institute of Peace. The Peace Scholar Program is a highly competitive award and is designed to support students as they complete their dissertation research. Arango’s dissertation project is titled The Role of Education in the Reintegration of Ex-Combatants in Colombia.

Samantha Tackett (Learning and Cognition) won a 2019 Graduate Student Award. Tackett was recognized for her work as a Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) fellow. PFF fellows demonstrate “a commitment to the profession of teaching, research and service.” As a PFF fellow, Tackett receives professional development and additional experiences to prepare her for her career. The Graduate School at FSU honors a PFF fellow each year. Tackett will be recognized at the Celebration of Graduate Student Excellence that takes place later in April.
